A Demo of the Sony DSC-T200
Hi everyone! I'm so glad to see a lively discussion taking place at the 2 posts I created regarding the DSC-T200 digital camera from Sony (you can see them here and here). So here is a my follow on post with a video demonstration of this great little camera. You can see th video below and then I've got some further details and photos samples after you click through the rest of this post!
So you've seen above some of the features of the camera. As I said in the video, the display is gorgeous both in
how it looks and its size. The touch capabilities are very responsive and provide for a good end user experience. So how are the pictures? Great. I've added to the right a shot of me that my wife took while I was making homemade wine this past weekend. People were saying that they'd heard the pictures were grainy. Not so. You can see from the photo to the right that the picture is clear, the colour is great and the smile shutter works (she'd clicked the photo and the camera waited till I actually looked up and smiled). I printed the picture at right as well as a 4x6 and a 5x7 and the quality was perfect.
As I stated in the video, I'm incredibly happy with this camera. The picture quality is very good, the camera is easy to use, compact and easy to take around and there are some useful innovations built in.

Nice Review Michael - thumbs up. Tough the photo youre taken has a very decent resolution. But you can make a stronger view to the photo quality at the following site i think, this was recently published by a guy on your comments to:
http://www.nimrichter.com/t200
As you can see, the shots were taken in the highest available resolution (8MP) in some strong situations. And therefore you can make a decision, is the camera really worth the money? In my only boxed view i think, for me which i need good resolution (probably around 6MP) and very flat noise, ist the DSC-T200 a no go. The pictures i saw, were all in max. ISO400 and already ISO200 shows some hard colored noise i wont expect in that category. But thats only my humble opinion.

Hope you took that advertising sticker off the front of the camera.
Pictures are only grainy when there is no flash and the ISO is high.
Camera was so impressive to a friend that I just ordered one for him as well.

That "smile shutter" mode is brilliant! And what an amazing interface... touch screens everywhere!

Hi there,
I bought this camera 2 days ago and I LOVE it! So easy to use and excellent quality pictures.
If I have a gripe it's the difficulty I had in tracing a spare battery for it...but that may be because the camera is new on the market...and I live in the UK.

Hi mip,
Great review. I ask my friend who is working in singapore to buy this for me. Im from the Philippines, by the way and gadgets here are veeeeeeeery expensive (this would cost me almost 800 US dollars here in the Philippines). I've been looking for a review of this camera and yours seems to be the best and the most detailed as well, nice job. I'm so excited to have this camera on October 13. I'll send you my amateur review next time. Thanks!
Dennis

Hi Mip
Great review of T200
Questions
1 Lack of MANUAL control for aperture/speed. does it limit you much?
2 Lack of manual viewfinder. Using screen in sunlight ?
Thanks

Hello There,
Was Planning to get the T200..
1.BATTERY LIFE..!!??
Its Got a 3.5 inch screen , so the battery life should be very low.. Could anyone confirm about that..
2.Is it Compact and Sleek Or too big because of the large screen..
3.Love Large Screen and touch so any Other Cameras worth a look..Or this has the easiest interface....??
Not a ProPhotographer..

I just got a T200 this weekend and I love the screen and cool features like Smile Shutter, but it doesn't seem to take the best pictures. I'm a complete novice when it comes to taking pictures, so I might be doing something wrong, but when I take pictures inside everything looks yellowish (especially the background). Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or does anyone have some recommended reading for me to look into so I can figure out how to take better pictures?

Hi Mip,
I am looking for the same camera. And almost decided on the same. However, one thing that has been worrying me is the dim light shots. There are many times at parties and clubs where the light is dim, and reading the reviews here and there, it has been suggested not to go for this beccuase of its poor quality in dim lights.
Please provide information on that aspect, so that me and many others can decide on this camera.
I know I am asking too much, please do put some more pics and dont forget the dimlit pics.
Thanks.

Here is a nice way to get some sample pics.

Though you are going through people's personal pics. But they are on open domain, and it allows you to make a decision regarding your new camera.
